I had this random thought while driving today. I was driving while singing my heart out to Jesus and all of a sudden I had this word placed into my mind... "prophet." I just stopped and repeated it and asked the Lord... "What do you mean by this?" Immediately I started thinking about the old testament prophets and how they proclaimed messages, decrees, and discipline upon Israel and the Nations. I thought to myself... "Do we really have prophets of old today?"
Then the Lord spoke these words to me... "Prophets of Prayer."
I immediately was struck by Holy Spirit and joy! I don't know why but I just started laughing so hard that I had tears in my eyes. Father-God is so good. I absolutely love how He speaks to me. Randomly driving, screaming in worship, and not thinking about anything really biblical at the time. Then He speaks so clearly that I can hear His voice, even in my soul... "Prophets. Prophets of Prayer," He says.
Its like Father creeps up on us when we least expect it. Like when you're a child and your mother or father is hiding behind something. You know the parents are there but when they jump out they still scare you. Its a kind of surprise and scare that the child loves, in which the child reacts with wanting more... "Do it again, please!" That's how Father-God creeps up on us... "Do it again, please!" :-)
Today, God is still raising up prophets. These prophets are different from the old testament but not any less of importance. He is raising up prophets to set decrees, shift the nations, change the atmosphere in regions and cities, and to be united with Him and His plans through prayer.
He wants His children to have their hearts not in the world but in prayer for the world. God is raising up a generation of "Prophets of Prayer."
